Betting on Motorcycle Racing (or Moto)
Call it moto racing, bike racing, motorbike racing, or even motorcycle racing, it’s all the same thing; an exciting sport where athletes zoom by, dangerously balanced on two wheels. While merely watching motorcycle racing is exciting enough for many, some need more kick in their sport. For those, betting on a motorcycle race gives them the excitement they crave.
Betting to increase excitement makes sense because any sport is more intense when you have a personal stake. For many people, a connection with a favored athlete or hometown is enough. But for others, making a motorcycle race wager makes it more “interesting.”
Unfortunately, moto race bets may not be legal in your area. Like with most sport betting, some parts of the world have strict laws against any type of betting, while others use gambling as their main source of income. Make sure to research local betting laws with motorcycle racing before you place your first bet. Of course there are other options taken by bettors who just have to bet on a motorcycle race. Online sites and Needles (the Friendly Neighborhood bookie) are always happy to take your bets. And of course, you can go to Las Vegas as well.
So what kinds of motorcycle racing bets are available? There’s the obvious bet of betting on the winner of the bike race. Depending on the race, it could be someone who crosses the finish line first or the person with the most overall points. For the more cynical better, bet against the favored rider winning! You can even bet against someone completing, like in an endurance moto race. Bet on someone coming in a predicted place or if one rider will perform better than another rider. In short, if you can imagine a possibility, then there’s a motorcycle bet to be made. Bets are usually moneyline bets, but fractional odds or decimal odds may be found as well. In addition, like betting on auto racing, there are options to bet teams, first through tenth place, or even bet the field. If you can imagine it, there’s a sports book that will take action on it.
And the bets on the motorcycle race can be researched to improve your chances – this is a sport where fanatical followers might know more than the bookie setting the odds (like hockey betting). Does your rider win more in the rain or when it’s dry? How do they perform away from home? Do your riders win more when he (or she) races in 125cc events? Do the different classes of motorbikes affect your rider more than normal? All these questions can be answered with some research online and make your bets more accurate.
And what a number of motorcycle racing bets there are available! Remember, it’s not just a once a year bet during the Road Racing World Championship. There’s drag motorcycle racing, ice motorbike races, motocross, and even motorcycle sidecar racing. The type of motorcycle bet you want to make are up to you.
Good luck, and make sure you wear your helmet!
