The Idea and General Object of the Game
When it comes to playing Craps, many players may find the gameplay initially daunting, but in reality, it turns out to be quite simplistic in nature.
The overall object of the game is pretty basic: Roll the dice, and depending on the roll, perhaps win some money. But naturally, there’s more to the game than just that. Playing craps, whether it is between friends (or rivals) or placing all of your hopes on a single roll, depends on a significant understanding of how the rules and odds work.
With craps the overall object of the game is that the player (in other words, you) has to make a bet either with or against the shooter (the dice thrower). During the course of the game, there are multiple ways to bet – you can bet the shooter will make a certain number, that they won’t make a number, that they will make a number a certain way, etc – for this article, we’ll just concentrate on the overall basics.
Ok, the shooter throws the dice, and whatever number comes up (that isn’t a 7 or 11) is “the point”. Once the point is established, the general object is to keep rolling until the point is re-rolled, or a seven is rolled. And again, all of these rolls can be bet on a multitude of ways. The round continues until seven or the point is reached – so obviously, many throws of the dice can commence until the round ends. With people winning and losing money the entire way through.
When it comes to Craps, even the spectators have a busy time of it, and have to keep their eyes on the dice to make sure they keep up with the action. Depending on who bets what amount on what outcome, a roll could have huge ramifications, making it very exciting to watch. And again, each roll generally has winners and losers – that’s why there is so much screaming.
While the overall gameplay of craps may be a little daunting to those players that are new to the game, the rules and concept are actually quite simple (establish a point, keep rolling until it’s hit again, or a seven is hit.) In addition, the game itself is a lot of fun to play due to the generally high enthusiasm of the crowd. And you know, you don’t HAVE to learn every single bet right away – you can just play the pass line or whatnot, and be happy with that. Every skill level is welcome.
So grab a pair of dice, get shakin’, and roll your way into those big money dreams of yours.
