Virgin Casino

MGM Grand Macau, Avenida Dr Sun Yat Sen Nape

Opened in 2007, the MGM Grand Macau offers an experience similar to the well-known MGM Mirage in Las Vegas, but with the Portuguese-Chinese ambiance of Macau, a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China. This means that, like Hong Kong, Macau has a degree of autonomy from mainland China. US citizens do not need a visa to visit Macau, though they do to travel to mainland China. Only a passport is needed to travel to Macau, or to Hong Kong. The official languages are Chinese and Portugese, but staff in tourist areas all speak fluent English.

The casino at MGM Macau is massive, with a 222,000 square foot split-level gaming floor. It offers over 1,000 slot machines and over 300 table games. The MGM is currently expanding its casino, which will double the number of slots and add approximately 100 new table games. In addition to the popular Western table games, the MGM Macau also offers Sic Bo, a dice game that originated in ancient China.

Accommodations at the MGM Macau come in four flavors: rooms, studios, suites and villas, each offering a level of luxury above the last. The rooms are spacious, ranging from approximately 400 square feet for a standard room to a sprawling villa of over 2,000 square feet that comes with a 24 hour butler. All rooms have large screen plasma TVs, high-speed internet, and come with complimentary access to the fitness center and the swimming pool.

The fitness center and pool are part of the Six Senses Spa, which also offers a full menu of Spa treatments, including Thai and Swedish massage, facials with Chinese ointments and herbs, pedicures and manicures. Yoga and Tai Chi classes are available as well as meditation sessions and personal training sessions. The Hair Studio offers complete hair salon services.

When it's time to take a break from gaming and relaxing, there are nine different restaurants to choose from. For luxurious extravagance, the Parisian-style brasserie, Russian Room, Rossio, and Champagne Bar are available. Casual dining is available at Chef Leo's, Square Eight, and the MGM Patisserie. There are also two lounges, the M Bar and the Lion's bar.

The MGM Grand Macau is just 10 minutes from the Maritime Ferry Terminal, which connects you with other places in Macau, Hong Kong and even mainland China. A 1,500 seat theater offers shows Vegas style.

The MGM Grand Macau is located at Avenida Dr Sun Yat Sen Nape. The nearest airport is Macau International Airport.
