Emerald Valley Resort and Casino, Penniston Valley

A former British colony, St. Vincent and the Grenadines is home to a tropical landscape, pristine white sands beaches and two casinos. One of those, Emerald Valley Casino, provides gamers with all the action they could want while vacationing in an earthly paradise. Whether you’re there to game or to relax, be sure you check out the Emerald Valley Casino.

Open every day but Tuesday from 9PM to 3AM, you may not have a lot of time to game at Emerald Valley Casino, but you’ll have plenty of opportunity to win. Play Blackjack, Poker, Roulette or Craps on the casino’s eight tables or test your luck with the 50 gaming machines – both Vegas-style slot machines and electronic games.

Emerald Valley Resort, home of the Emerald Valley Casino, has 24 rooms for you to choose from, so you won’t have to look far for hotel accommodations. Each room comes with basic amenities and comfortable furnishings. If you arrive to find the hotel booked, try the nearby New Montrose Hotel, a recently renovated 25-room hotel with all the basics, plus Internet connections and laundry services.

Food can be had at either of the above hotels, so don’t worry about trying to find some place in the city. The Emerald Valley Restaurant, a casual restaurant, serves up a regular American menu, which basically means that there is a wide variety tastes. The Montrose Hotel has a restaurant, too. The Mont Rose Restaurant offers both local seafood and international cuisine and overlooks the city and the Grenadine Islands. When you’re done, head over to the Sky Lime Bar to enjoy local beers, wines and all your favorite cocktails.

Leisure is plentiful at the Emerald Valley Resort; the facility provides a workout area, a swimming pool, horseback riding, tennis courts, nature walks and a 9-hole golf course. There’s even hotel-sponsored scuba diving to the Kingstown shipwreck, bat caves and reefs. For something truly amazing, try a night dive. For pampering, the New Montrose Hotel has a complete spa with massage and beauty treatments available at very reasonable prices.

The Caribbean is a sleepy region in general in terms of your usual nightlife, but St. Vincent is slow even by those standards. Fear not, though, there are a couple of bars with live music and nightclubs with DJs. With a little questioning once you get on the island, you may be surprised by the availability of socializing, dancing and partying, all with a local flavor.

There are other attractions in the city, too. With a history as a British colony, you can enjoy the colonial architecture and history. There’s also shopping; there are dozens of little locally owned shops where you can bargain your way to a few great purchases.
