Lesser Know Casino Games: Blackjack Switch
When choosing Blackjack variants to play, it is important to choose one that will suit your individual tastes and interests. Blackjack Switch is a version of the game that is a little more conservative in nature, but adds for some interesting twists in gameplay.
Blackjack Switch does not focus on certain tactics such as not doubling hands or splitting hands that are weak overall. The main draw (no pun intended) of Blackjack Switch is that players can swap cards in their hand. In this case, players are dealt two hands, and are given the option to change out the top two cards in each hand. A little switcheroo, if you will.
The great thing about this tactic is that this maneuver can increase the chance of one of two things: Either hitting “Blackjack” (which is the whole point of this game), or just simply getting better cards in order to increase a player’s standing.
Even though there are more options, don’t think for a moment that the game is just being handed over to the player. The game does have some game specific rules in order to keep it fair for the Dealer as well.
The basic rules of Blackjack apply to the overall game, so it’s not learning a new game from scratch. But there are differences, so keep that in mind. For example, a player must make two bets of equal value. Once this is done, the cards are passed out to players (in this case, face up), and players have the option to switch the second card that is dealt to another hand, hence the name Blackjack Switch.
Afterwards, the player can make a double on any of the two cards, and split them. But once they split, that’s it. There is no option to resplit, so make your choices carefully.
For the Dealer’s benefit, the Dealer can also hit a soft 17 (via an “Ace” card) to give them more of an advantage. They can also “push” if they get a total of “22”. This may seem a little much, however, the option to “switch” is huge for the player, so it’s only fair the dealer get “something”.
So why would anyone play this game? Well, let’s face it: Switching cards is flat-out fun. It’s no simpler than that. It’s different, and exciting, and anything goes once the cards start moving into action. If you can find a game of blackjack switch, we suggest you try it. It’s daring, it’s unpredictable, and it’s some of the most fun you will have in the casino. Enjoy.
